The Canon EOS 40D web page of Canon Hongkong has details on configurations that are available for purchase:
Suggested Retail Price:
EOS 40D Body: HK$ 8,980
EOS 40D Kit Set: HK$ 11,980 (with EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM)

Rafale388 has some tips on buying cameras in Hong Kong: Stay away from stores with big camera neon signs and words like “duty free” on it, especially those on Nathan row. He further adds that the 40D can be had for about HKD8800 and that comes bundled with a 2 GB CF (CompactFlash) card. Autofocus is quick even with the 18-55mm kit lens, and the viewfinder is impressive.

An added bonus is that there is no sales tax or duty imposed on photo equipment in Hong Kong.

GaryJP, who shared some 40D sample photos and feedback, bought his camera at Wah Kiu, which is a shop situated right next to Citicall by the Central Market. Wah Kiu sold the 40D at a discount if paid for in cash, which is approximately $100 off US retail prices.
