Canon 40D Field Report at Luminous Landscape

Michael Reichmann is extremely happy with the camera in his brief hands-on review of the Canon 40D.

Most interesting are his comments further down the page, where he praised the new AF (autofocus) system on the 40D (9 cross-type sensors), and even asserted that the image quality from the 40D surpasses that from the 5D (a web-sized, ISO 800 image from the 40D plus a 100% crop was used to support that assertion).

Photo samples in the review were shot with a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM Lens mounted on the 40D.

All in all, an extremely good summary of what to expect from the 40D, with enough information for photographers wishing to upgrade from the xxD series (10D / 20D / 30D) and Digital Rebel models (300D, 350D / XT, 400D / XTi)
